Our April meeting will be a bit different and will not offer us the chance to see if our meeting attendance trend continues. The reason? Our meeting night conflicts with Einstein Week at UNO. On our meeting night, Friday, April 7th, UNO will be holding a Physics Open House with telescope viewing thru the UNO telescope and lectures by our own John Martinez and/or Dr. Greg Seab. The PAS has been asked to help out by having additional telescopes set up for public viewing. We will do this during our regular meeting hours, we will be set up on the south side of the Science Bldg. There is a service road that runs parallel to the parking lot that we normally use on the north side of the Science Bldg for meeting parking. Anyone planning on helping with a telescope can drive down this road to unload your gear.
Better yet, there is another parking lot between the Science Bldg., and Leon C. Simon Blvd. that can be used. From this location you can park and set up your equipment. For those not helping with telescopes, you can park in the lot that we typically use for meeting parking. (I will put a map on the PASNOLA website which should clearly show where we will have telescopes set up and where you can park if you are setting up a scope.
Later in April some of us will be attending the Deep South Spring Scrimmage at the Feliciana Retreat Center. If anyone needs more information about this, please let me know. Information can be found on the Deep South Star Gaze Yahoo Group. (Just type in Deep South Star Gaze on Google. You will be directed to our website, and from there to the Yahoo Group. The most recent posts there have been about the Spring Scrimmage.) Hopefully we will have good weather for the UNO Star Gaze on April 7th. Please try to make it. Jupiter will be well placed for observation!
Looking forward to an interesting April meeting!
